Top 4 surprises to start the season!
- The Mariners?? – After the fire sale in late december that saw a hefty majority of their top talent shipped out, the Mariners have come out swinging in 2019, literally, with homeruns in 13 straight games just one shy of the record set by Cleveland in 2002, They currently lead the AL with a 10-2 surprising everyone.
- The Red Sox – Talk about a championship hangover, the 2018 world series victors have started on the wrong foot, allowing a league worst 79 runs against and currently sit second last in the AL, their starters look shaky, especially Chris Sale, who’s fastball is barely creeping over over 92 mph.
- Dansby Swanson – When the former 1st overall draft pick was traded to Atlanta a lot of fans and critics expected Swanson to step in and take over for the defensive stalwart Andrelton Simmons, after a solid rookie campaign there was hope, unfortunately an inconsistent bat and injuries derailed him, but now the Kennesaw, GA product looks to be showing his First overall talent, becoming the first Atlanta Braves shortstop to hit 3 home runs in their first 9 games, throw a .333 avg and a glove that looks more gold than brown we definitely have a breakout candidate and possibly first time all-star.
- Not So Crush Davis – After hitting 159 homeruns in his first 4 seasons, Baltimore signed Chris Davis to a 7 year $161 million contract ($42 million deferred from 2023-2037) with the impression that the 1B slugger could consistently send the ball for years to come, but he had other plans, he has been hitless since Sept. 14th of 2018, which equates to a record 0-47 streak, hopefully for his, the Orioles and the fans sake he can turn that around and find his form again.
